1. Wide Voltage Range: The motor operates on both 115 volts and 208-230 volts, making it suitable for various electrical systems.
2. Standard Horsepower: With a half horsepower rating, it offers a decent balance between power and energy efficiency for circulating applications.
3. Standard Frequency: Operating at 60 Hz ensures compatibility with most North American electrical grids.
4. Reasonable Speed: The motor operates at 1725 RPM, which is suitable for many circulation pump applications.
5. Reputable Brand: Pro-Fit is a well-known brand in the industry, suggesting potential reliability and quality.
Cons:1. Limited Amperage Rating: The motor's amperage rating might be too high for some electrical circuits, potentially requiring a larger electrical service.
2. No Variable Speed Option: If you require a pump with adjustable speed for flow regulation, this motor might not be the best fit.
3. Potential Lack of Efficiency: Half horsepower motors may not be the most energy-efficient option for certain applications, leading to higher electricity bills.
4. Limited Application-Specific Information: The product description does not provide specific details about the motor's suitability for certain types of pumps or circulatory systems.
Conclusion:The Pro-Fit MOT-D-102S Circulation Pump Motor (1/2hp, 115/208-230v, 60hz, 1725 rpm, P/N 7-196299-20) is a versatile option for circulatory applications due to its wide voltage range and standard horsepower. However, potential drawbacks include limited amperage rating, no variable speed option, and potential lack of efficiency. If your application requires a more energy-efficient motor or adjustable speed, you may want to explore other options. On the other hand, if you need a reliable motor for a general circulatory application and your electrical system fits the voltage requirements, this motor could be a suitable choice.
This motor was removed from our church boiler system about 10 years ago and unfortunately just sat on the floor for quite a while. Reason it was removed that a newer technology motor replaced this unit. This unit was originally Fitted for Pro-Fit parts that couple it to the pump volute. This motor still has the gear looking part that meshes with rubber gear-coupling used on old Pro-Fit couplets.
